Site5 Review

Host Website: http://www.site5.com

About the Company
Site5 was founded in 1998 by Matt Lightner and Rod Armstrong. Putting their own hearts, souls, and pocketbooks into the idea, they grew from a small company serving only a few hosting accounts to a strong business entity with nearly 100 servers and its own network. Always striving to be an industry leader in web hosting technology, Site5 was one of the first four licensed Cpanel distributors.

Site5 has always been in relentless pursuit of excellent customer service and the latest and best that technology has to offer. The owners promise that all they have planned for the future is an improvement over their already amazing offerings.

Plans

Three plans are offered under the company’s ‘Superhosting’ packages: Basic, XTREME, and Unleashed. Pricing ranges from $5.47 per month to $16.97 per month, depending on the package you choose.

The Basic plan comes complete with 5 GB of disk space, 100 GB of monthly data transfer, unlimited email accounts, unlimited MySQL databases, and a dedicated IP address. All packages come with shared SSL, Site5’s NetAdmin4 control panel with Fantastico, e-commerce, and over 50 additional scripts. Support is provided for PHP, Perl, Python, ImageMagick, SSI, CGI-BIN, Flash and Shockwave, Javascript, and Windows and Real media streaming.

The XTREME and Unleashed packages come with all of the features listed above but have larger disk storage and bandwidth provided. Additionally, these two packages have Site5’s RapidReflex technology to ensure that your website is operating at its best. Finally, the Multisite package supports, you guessed it, multiple sites – you can split your disk space and bandwidth into as many domains and separate web sites as you are able.

Reliability

All of Site5’s servers are Dual Xeon 2.8 GHz or faster with at least 2 GB of DDR ECC RAM. The servers run a custom coded version of Linux and Apache web server software, for the best in software performance and security. All servers perform a nightly backup of all of the information stored on them so as to keep your web site up and running, even in the event of an accident.

The network for Site5’s data center has self-healing redundancy, with a level seven OC-48 SONET ring connection providing 2.488 GB/s in bandwidth connected directly to the MCI/UUNET, Verio, and SAVVIS backbone networks. Internally, Site5 has dual redundant Cisco GSR 12000s and dual redundant Cisco 6509 Sup720s.

All of this comes together to make a very high performance and high security data center.

Service/Support

Site5 has several options for the technical support of your website and are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Their support team can be reached at toll-free telephone number, email, or in the user forum. Also, support can be sought out via the online frequently asked question page or live chat with one of Site5’s technicians. Nobody wants to stay on the phone waiting to get help. The reported response time for this company is less than 15 minutes.

Conclusion

Site5 has been a forerunner in the web hosting industry for many years now. With their proven track record, long list of awards, and solid, reliable hosting packages, they are a force to be reckoned with in the hosting industry.
